Over the weekend, ABC released a four-part musical drama “In Our Blood”, available on iView. Inspired by Australia’s response to the AIDS epidemic during the 1980s, it does make compelling watching for some, but for others some content might be a little too real.
For long term survivors and those who lived through the worst of the epidemic during the 1980’s and 1990’s, the emotional wounds of profound discrimination, trauma, loss, and grief never truly heal. They are an everlasting memory of those who have come before us, how things have changed, and how much more we must do.
We encourage those in our community that choose to watch, do so in the comfort and safety of loved ones, as the series may be challenging especially for long term survivors.
