Living With HIV
About Living with HIV
Living with HIV has changed significantly over the years. And if you’ve been diagnosed with HIV, you are not alone in Queensland. At QPP we help any person living with HIV by providing:
- Peer support (talking to someone else with HIV)
- Practical assistance for people who are newly diagnosed
- Help to manage your own HIV treatment
- Legal support and referral for stigma, discrimination, migration and the law
- Emergency funding
- Social connection
With an early diagnosis, and access to modern HIV treatment, most people live an entirely normal life with some rather uneventful visits to an HIV specialist for monitoring of your blood and any possible side effects of treatment.
For other people, who may have been living with HIV a long time, some medical problems may exist as a result of early treatment side effects, or living for long periods of time with a high level of virus in their blood. Every individual is unique, and our team at QPP can assist people to deal with their personal situation.
The team at QPP provide information on a range of topics to empower people to live well with HIV. These topics include information for newly diagnosed, treatments, navigating the health system, disclosure, looking after yourself, growing older, and more.
Recently Diagnosed
If you’ve been recently diagnosed with HIV, QPP is here to help with information and support to help at the start of your journey.
