It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend Jude O’Day.
She was passionate, dedicated and a brilliant advocate for those she worked alongside. Jude had a long history working within the HIV sector – first at Tasmanian Council on AIDS Hepatitis & Related Diseases (TasCAHRD) as the Care and Support Coordinator before relocating to Brisbane and joining the Anglicare Positive Directions team as the Brisbane South (and Brisbane Metro) Client Liaison Officer in 2010. Many QPP staff, board and members will remember Jude as the compassionate but head-strong woman she was, working tirelessly with her clients.
Most importantly, Jude will be remembered by those that knew her most by her laughter. Regardless of whether you were a friend, colleague, client or stranger, Jude was able to put a smile of anyone’s face with her loud and unapologetic laugh – in quick succession by her (just as well remembered) raspy smoker’s cough.
A memorial service will be held at 11am Tuesday 22nd October at J. Kirk and Sons, 140 Adelaide St, Maryborough QLD 4650.
If you are unable to attend this or prefer to celebrate Jude’s life as she would have loved – with a drink in hand, a Celebration of Life will be planned for the coming few months and will be held at the Longley International Hotel in Hobart – as per Jude’s wishes. Details of this larger gathering will be shared in time.
Vale Jude – you will be missed.
